bali starling

Blind embossing and watercolour (2012)

The Bali Starling, also known locally in Bali as Jalak Bali, is a Mynah bird endemic to Bali. It has a pure white plumage and beautiful blue skin around its eyes, and a distinctive white crest on its head. Sadly this bird is critically endangered but there are programmes working towards its conservation.

Originally from the UK, Alison’s happiest memories as a child were beachcombing and rock pooling in the south of England. This connection to nature has never left her. She continues to explore and observe the natural world by snorkelling, diving or hiking, finding endless inspiration for her artwork.
